CHAPTER ELEVEN
My father’s home is the same as it’s always been. I don’t think anything but the sheets have been changed in all these years. My room was the same. All my stuff still in place. I flopped on the bed, eyes wide, the ceiling a blank screen on which I played the actions of the last few days. Beginning early Friday morning, the reel fast-forwarded until the moment I closed the motel door.
Then I moved toward Margaret in slow motion.
I bathed her, dried her, lay beside her, and knew again the beginnings of her arousal, the moisture, the heat, and the wild motion of her hips straining against me as her hunger built. I saw all of this, felt every movement, tasted her excitement, felt the vibrations as she climaxed in my arms.
She said she’d die if I made her wait. So, on my ceiling screen, I kissed her. Her tongue was velvet, her nipple a hardened bud between my lips, her vulva sweetly swollen for my mouth to

encompass. As I watched this dreamy lovemaking take place, I began feeling my own, present need. The slow unfolding became unbearable. So I clicked to normal speed and I fucked her. I put my fingers in her slippery opening and I fucked her. This was not the usual gentle loving. I felt her stretch, her harsh cries urging more.
The image of Margaret, climaxing under my impassioned lovemaking, had aroused me. Her body still, her blue eyes shining, she looked up at me, and I clearly heard her whisper, “I love you, too, Sarah.”
“Sarah . . . wake up, Sarah.”
Margaret touching my arm? I rolled over and looked up at Mabel.
“Your friend is here, Sarah, and it’s time to get up. You can’t sleep all afternoon, not with all the excitement. The driveway’s lined with cars, there are detectives everywhere, and your father wants you to talk to them. Get up now.”
“My friend?” I asked. “She’s here?”
“They brought her over a couple of hours ago, and she’s fine.
The first words out of her mouth were about you. I told her you were resting.”
“Where is she?” I wanted to know so I could avoid her.
“In one of the guest rooms at the end of the hall. I think she’s probably sleeping. She looked worn out.”
That was no surprise. She hadn’t slept other than those few hours Saturday night. Sunday night, of course, neither of us had closed our eyes. I ran my hands through my tangled hair. A shower and shampoo were called for.
“Mabel, if today’s Monday, we had a deposition this morning.”
“I remembered. I had Roby Lane take it. She was free, and glad to have the work. Now get up.”
I keep clothes here, so, finally clean and dressed presentably, I went downstairs. Lonnie met me at the door to the study. “I see your hair hasn’t recovered.”
“Do shut up,” I said. “It may be wet but it’s probably cleaner
than yours.”
My father was at his desk. “Come in, Sarah,” he said. “We’ve been waiting to hear your story.
